Explanation

Can someone explain to me on a night that Lee Konitz is playing at The Cultch and we have the Sax Summit at The Cellar, the club is packed and so is Konitz' show. However on a night (tonight) that The Summit is at The Cellar and the fireworks finale is on we only have 30 reservations? I don't get it. No I am lucky because every year I get to go on a boat and see the fireworks on a Wednesday night. I am one of maybe 2000 people that get to do that. The rest of the people watch it from the beach. What is the fascination of watching things explode in the sky year after year. It looks the same, sounds the same yet 500,000 people watch every year.....anyways, I'm a tad frustrated to say the least.

On another note, the club is getting rave sound reviews not only from the musicians but from the patrons. The club sounds great anywhere you sit so it appears that my biggest fear can be layed to rest.

I got asked to play baritone saxophone in the West Coast edition of the Paul Anka big band to back him up in Vancouver, Victoria, Saskatoon, Calgary, Edmonton and Winnipeg. A big thrill for me no doubt. I can't wait. If you haven't heard his new record 'Rock Swings' you have to check it out. Its incredible. Im honored to have been asked to do this and am looking forward to it. Shit at $95 a ticket I think I shold be getting paid more but to be honest I could care less, its going to be a blast.
